Job description
Summary/Objective
Reporting to a Partner and the Director of Wealth Management, the Wealth Advisor is responsible for managing a group book of client relationships, delivering comprehensive financial planning and investment advisory services. This role is ideal for a credentialed professional (CFP® or CPA) with a solid foundation in financial planning who is ready to take greater ownership of client relationships, contribute to business development, and mentor junior team members.
Essential Functions
Manage and serve as the primary advisor for an assigned book of client households, delivering comprehensive financial planning and ongoing wealth management strategies aligned with clients' goals and objectives
Conduct client reviews, analyze financial data, and develop recommendations related to investment management, retirement planning, tax efficiency, risk management, and estate planning
Build and strengthen client relationships by collaborating with clients' professional advisors, identifying opportunities for additional planning services, and supporting business development and referral initiatives
Ensure all client recommendations, communications, and documentation adhere to fiduciary obligations, regulatory requirements, and firm policies and procedures
Contribute to the development of the advisory team by mentoring Associate Wealth Advisors, sharing technical expertise, and staying current on industry trends, market conditions, and planning strategies
Responsibilities & Duties
Serve as primary advisor for an assigned book of client households, managing the full relationship lifecycle
Develop, present, and implement comprehensive financial plans covering retirement, investment, tax, risk management, and estate planning strategies
Conduct regular client review meetings to assess progress toward financial goals and adjust plans as needed
Analyze client financial data and provide recommendations on asset allocation, tax efficiency, and risk mitigation
Collaborate with clients’ professionals (CPA, Estate Attorney, etc.) to deliver coordinated, holistic advice
Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships and expand services (referrals, additional assets, family members)
Ensure all client interactions and recommendations comply with fiduciary standards and firm/regulatory requirements
Mentor and provide guidance to Associate Wealth Advisors
Stay current on tax law changes, market conditions, and planning strategies relevant to client portfolios
Participate in business development activities, including client seminars, referral partner relationships, and community engagement
Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, recommendations, and plan updates

Job requirements
Education & Experience
Required
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field required
CFP® certification or active CPA license required
Minimum 5 years of client facing experience in financial planning or wealth management
Series 65 (or 66) license
Demonstrated knowledge of investment management, tax planning, retirement planning, and estate planning concepts
Knowledge of tax concepts and business consulting services, combined with strong client relationship skills and the ability to deliver holistic support and guidance to a diverse client base.
Strong proficiency in financial planning software (eMoney, MoneyGuidePro) and portfolio management tools
Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and relationship management skills
Proven ability to manage multiple client relationships with a high level of service and accuracy
Sound judgment and ability to work independently while collaborating within a team structure
Preferred
Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, or dental/medical professionals (industry-specific niche experience a plus)
Additional designations (CPA, ChFC®, CIMA®, CWPA®, AEP®, CAP®) complementary to CFP®
Track record of client retention and organic growth within a book of business
Travel
Minimal travel required to see select clients and attend CWA’s Annual Meeting.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type & Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some remote work and flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval.
