Summary/Objective
Reporting under the IT Department, the IT Intern is responsible for providing technical and operational support to the IT team while gaining hands-on experience in enterprise technology, user support, and IT operations. This role supports daily IT functions and assists with projects that improve system reliability, security, and user experience.
Essential Functions
Provide first-level technical support to end users for hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, and peripherals.
Support IT operations by documenting processes, maintaining inventories, and updating system records.
Assist with basic troubleshooting, diagnostics, and resolution of IT incidents under supervision.
Participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, application rollouts, and security initiatives.
Responsibilities & Duties
Respond to IT service requests and incidents via ticketing system, email, or phone.
Install, configure, and maintain Windows and macOS workstations and standard business applications.
Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup and access provisioning.
Perform routine system checks, updates, and basic maintenance tasks.
Maintain accurate documentation for hardware, software, and IT procedures.
Assist with network connectivity troubleshooting (wired and wireless).
Support audio/visual and conferencing technologies for meetings and events.
Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff as appropriate.
Follow IT security policies and best practices to protect company data and systems.
Provide general administrative support to the IT department as needed.

Job requirements
Education and Experience
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, and common business applications required.
Previous internship, coursework, or hands-on experience in an IT support or technical role preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Windows operating systems, and basic networking concepts preferred.
Experience using an IT ticketing or help desk system preferred.
Strong willingness to learn and ability to follow technical instructions.
Must be a self-motivated problem solver and should have a desire to learn new technologies
Should have the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Travel
No travel is required for this position.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. This position will require setting up workstations including monitors, computers, laptops, and other hardware as required. It may also require the use of ladders and crawling under desks to provide network connections to workstations.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full time, internship position. The duration of the internship will be determined based on incumbent availability and business need. Days and hours of work will be determined by the manager. Some flexibility in hours may be allowed based on management’s approval.

Compensation
Minimum: $16.00/hr - Maximum: $20.00/hr USD
