Summary/Objective

Reporting to a Partner, the Advanced Planning Wealth Advisor is responsible for working with the tangible assets people leave behind upon death, helping to ensure these assets are dispersed according to the wishes of the deceased and that debts are paid.


Essential Functions

  1. Discuss the client's end-of-life needs and the assets and debts that will make up the estate to be managed.
  2. Advise and proactively plan with the client on how best to administer their wealth, as well as discussing other issues such as trust funds, planning for incapacity and advanced medical directives.
  3. When a client dies, review the documents associated with the client's last will and testament, insurance policies, unpaid bills and any trust funds.
  4. Carry out the client's final wishes within the scope of the law, distributing property, paying debts (including taxes) and beginning the process of administering any trust monies.


Responsibilities & Duties

  1. Develop training manuals for Tier 1 (Basic) and Tier 2 (Intermediate) estate levels. Paying particular attention to revocable trusts, life insurance, beneficiaries, and asset titling
  2. Tier 3 (Advanced) estate planning
  3. Oversee E Money champion team
  4. Discuss plans with clients for distributing clients’ assets
  5. Review and make recommendations on wills, trusts and powers of attorney
  6. Advise clients regarding retirement plans, charitable giving, and insurance options
  7. Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action

Job requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or management
  • Financial Planning and Estate Planning Certification is required
  • 10 years of experience in estate planning
  • Experience in financial planning is vital, as well as strong communication skills and legal knowledge
  • Analytical thinker and good listener
  • In-depth understanding of tax law, life insurance processes, and probate
  • Knowledgeable about applicable inheritance, tax, and debt law in addition to understanding how various types of insurance and trust funds operate
  • Empathetic and capable of establishing trust with others is crucial


Travel

No travel is expected for this position. There is the possibility of a small amount of overnight and out-of-state travel for conferences or clients.


Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.


Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time, exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed based on management’s approval.

Compensation

Minimum: $150,000 - Maximum: $180,000
